In 2006, Mostafa Tabatabainajad, a student in a library at UCLA, was tased by a UC police officer even after he had already been subdued. The incident was captured on video, leading to protest and a list of demands to reform UC policy at Cal. Recent acts of brutality at Cal re-affirm the need for coordinated action by students & faculty to address UC policy on the use of force especially against student protesters. The campus should be discussing these issues today. Police brutality on campus neither started nor ended with the UC Strike.
