Genantech Lobbyists Wrote Both Praise & Criticism of Health Care for Congresspeople
Statements by more than a dozen lawmakers were ghostwritten, in whole or in part, by Washington lobbyists working for Genentech, one of the world’s largest biotechnology companies. The lobbyists drafted one statement for Democrats and another for Republicans.
From them the praise, from them the criticism. From them the establishment, from them reform. From them the businessmen, from them the populists. From them the Democrats, from them the Republicans. Does anyone remember Darwish’s line, “From them the sin, and from them the forgiveness. From them the killing, and the tears. From them them the massacres, and the justice of the courts.” How much more proof do we need that our political system its debates are staged.
